LESSON STUDY DIPRESENTASIKAN PADA Workshop Lesson Study P3AI YOGYAKARTA Rabu, 14 Juli 2010

            What do you know about lesson study? Lesson study is action to increase teacher capability to arrange learning process in the class by research and make reflection systematically about learning process. The aim of the lesson study is to increase teacher’s attendance about what students need for their study. The point of lesson study is to make relationship or cooperation between teacher and teacher or teacher and lecture to observe, understand, lesson, and make reflection about learning process in the class. There are some steps to create lesson study, such as :
1.      Preparation : teachers prepare the lesson plan.
2.      Do it : A teacher teach the students in the class, then the other teacher or lecture make observation.
3.      Reflection and correction 1 : teachers and lecture make discussion.
4.      Reflection and correction 2 : the other teacher teach the student in the class, and the other one make observation.
We also do lesson study to make a new innovation in education by repair or improve learning process in the class. The relevant paradigmatic such as: student centered, constructivist, realistic mathematics, and contextual teaching learning. But we also must know that innovation will be real if teacher is extrovert, have a high commitment, there are good infra-system, and many component want to do this. Lesson study needs development curriculum, syllabi, lesson plan, media and tools to study, work sheet. Lesson study also needs a theme like how to improve mathematic characteristic, how to develop mathematic learning method, and how to develop assessment.
Then the operational steps of lesson study, for example:
Goal : student can study mathematics by their selves.
Competence : student can find the area of triangle.
Activity : student make research or manipulation of materials to find the area of triangle.
            In lesson study we also know about lesson plan. Lesson plan is very important for lesson study. Lesson plan have some character, such: to serve what student’s need to study, to show student’s activity, variety interaction, media and method, to draw the schema of competence, develop of evaluation. Besides of that, lesson plan also as communication way, reflection of innovation, individual study, to improve cooperation, have many document, always repair, and as research way.
            The other way that support lesson study, known and implementation the nature of motivation, apperception, discussion, group discussion, student participation/involvement, students construction, of aim of education: obligation versus need.
            Finally, when we have know about lesson study, we must make socialization by publication, participation of Stake Holder, Lesson Study Open House, MGMP, school committee, cooperation with university (LPTK).
