In developed countries calculator is used to get an important role in the process of learning mathematics. This is indicated by the use of calculators in mathematics learning from education basic to higher education. Meaning importance of a calculator is to bridge the arithmetic and algebra. There are two types of calculator such as ordinary calculators and scientific calculators. One example of a scientific calculator is a graphing calculator. The advantage of graphing calculator the ability of the calculator in solving mathematics problems quickly and display them in graphical form and create programs that can solve math problems. Benefits that can be explored from the use of calculators in Mathematics Learning are: a) help in understanding mathematical concepts, b) help strengthen the skills computation, c) develop high-level thinking skills, d) improve problem solving skills, and e) make the solution problem more realistic.
From research conducted, the conclusions obtained are: stages use calculators as a learning tool mathematics at SMK IV Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, can be done as follows: 1) understanding of the significance calculator graph, explained in basic and detail about the graphing calculator; 2)understanding the theory and use of calculators graphs in equations and inequalities to solve problems, focused on how students understand the command, symbolic manipulation, and graphs to solve problems and equations inequalities with graphing calculator;3) entering data into the calculator about the process move the language into the language of mathematics in terms of graphing calculators; 4) interpretation of the graphing calculator screen and draw conclusions; 5) that students will experienced the process in a row. This means that the process is an inductive process.
There are some advantages of graphing calculator in learning mathematics such:
1. To determine and match graphic images
2. To determine and match answer solution set
3. To give you real experience of graphic images
4. Settlement about equations and inequalities can be use the command, symbolic manipulation and graphics.
5. To provide answers previously calculated without a calculator and accelerate the completion mathematics matter.
6. The constraints experienced by students in using the calculator graph is a mathematical paraphrase sentences into the languages calculator and disclose any appearance of the calculator screen to in mathematical sentences.
7. Mathematics lessons becomes more attractive and mathematics problem solving easier.
8. If the use of graphing calculators with no offset capabilities for understand the operating procedures and mathematical thinking, it can be cause high levels of dependence, loss confidence themselves, and lazy thinking.
