Memanfaatkan Microsoft Word 2007 Sebagai Media Pembelajaran Geometri di SMP

Geometry teaching media in junior high school developed as the business implications of achieving the standard competence and basic competence as a write in School Base Curriculum (SBC). Using computers, particularly Microsoft Word 2007 is one of the efforts of teachers in make use of existing learning resources. Utilization of Microsoft Word will give
positive contribution to both the teacher and students.

Microsoft Office 2007 comes with Smart Art graphic so that users can create different
kinds of graphs. With Smart Art graphics tools we can create different kinds of form geometry of 2 or 3 dimensions. With Smart Art graphics devices we can also do animation in the form as well as add text for explain the image. Basic forms of geometry can be obtained from the menu “Insert” by selecting sub-menu “Shapes”. To draw a 3-dimensional geometry we use the Object Format (3 - D Format pane). For the colors we used command “Contours”.

Geometry basic form can be obtained from the “autoshapes” to click “Drawing
Toolbar”. Basic geometry can be obtained by a triangle, quadrilateral, square, in terms of five regular, in terms of 6 regular or in terms of 8 regular. We also can make 3-dimensions form like cubes, block, cylinder, prism, cone, and so on. Then we also can count the volume and surface area, build transformation geometry.

Use of Microsoft Word 2007 software can be done easily because the software is available in all new generation computer. Skill making foundations form of geometry by using the facilities in Microsoft Word 2007 can be developed to make the form of geometries more complex, such as 3-dimensional geometry form. Skills can be increased to study aspects of geometry with a higher standard of competence, for example to determine the value of phi. From the above description can be concluded as follows:

1.      The use of Microsoft Word 2007 is easy for teacher because this software is there almost in every new generation computer.

2.      The use of Microsoft Word 2007 will add motivation and pleasure in geometry learning.

3.      Students can use Microsoft Word 2007 to study the geometry of both independently or through collaboration.

4.      By using Microsoft Word 2007, students can conduct investigations into concepts of geometry.

5.      By using Microsoft Word 2007, students can perform activities problem solving.

6.      By using Microsoft Word 2007, students can communicate the result to both of teachers and the other friends.
